The Ben Fund helped me when separation and divorce led to financial difficulties
I separated from my wife two years ago, which ultimately led to a divorce a year later. Due to financial difficulties and the fact that I did not have family around, I was forced to live in the same house as my ex-wife and my 9 year old son for nearly two years. Those were not pleasant times and the atmosphere became increasingly unbearable, particularly for my son.

I contacted the Ben Fund as I knew they could provide financial advice. When I shared my story with them, I was offered help from a financial advisor within days and was told that I could also be entitled to financial support.
After meeting the Ben Fund Visitor and speaking with the financial advisor, I submitted an application for financial support and the Ben Fund Trustees offered to pay my rent on a flat for a number of months while my financial situation improved. This meant that I could live in a peaceful place where I could enjoy the company of my son. I was also able to plan for the future without the stress I endured whilst living with my ex-wife.
The support the Ben Fund has given me during this difficult period of time has been invaluable. I will always be grateful for it and now I want to support other fellow engineers, or their families, who may also find themselves experiencing difficult times. I am looking at becoming a volunteer visitor for the Ben Fund and helping others in the same way I was helped. I encourage any member who is facing challenges to get in touch with the Ben Fund at the earliest opportunity.
I will always be grateful for the support of my Benevolent Fund
